What Kept4 Collects

Kept4 stores the information you choose to add, including account details, family invitations, conversations, story drafts, photos, documents, possessions, and notes about who should receive or understand them later.

How Kept4 Uses Your Information

We use your information to run the product: helping you create stories, organize meaningful items, generate documents, invite family members, process payments, deliver emails, and protect your account.

AI Processing

When you use AI features, relevant prompts and conversation text may be sent to an AI provider so Kept4 can generate responses. Your photos are not sent to an AI provider: you tell us what is in them, in your own words. The one exception is a photo you ask us to “read the writing on” — a letter, a recipe card, the back of a print. Then that one photo is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, only to copy the words written on it — it is not asked to describe the photo or recognize anyone — and you check those words before they are kept. Do not add information you are not comfortable using for this purpose.

A Second Look at Written Stories

When Kept4 writes one of your conversations as a story, it may ask a second AI service, TypeSafe, to read the lines of that story beside the conversation it came from, that conversation’s topic and the names of who told it, and to judge whether the conversation supports each line. TypeSafe reads text only, never your photos or recordings. It answers with a judgment, never with words, and it does not write any part of your story. Kept4 uses its answers only to ask you to take a second look at a line. They never change what you said, and nothing TypeSafe answers is printed. A story told by a child, or with a child among its storytellers, is never sent. TypeSafe does not use what it reads to train its models, and it does not sell it.

Private By Default

Your Kept4 content is not public. Family members only receive access when you invite them or when you choose a sharing setting that allows access.

Payments and Email

Payments are processed by Stripe, and transactional email may be sent through Resend. Kept4 does not store full credit card numbers on its own servers.

Your Choices

You can update, remove, or export many parts of your Kept4 content inside the product. For account-level privacy requests, email support@kept4.com from the email address connected to your account.
